ELFT has been named one of the HSJ Top 10 best places to work in healthcare, HSJ Provider Trust of the Year and graded as Outstanding by our regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in 2018. We believe that staff who feel valued by the Trust and are truly engaged in the organisation deliver better outcomes for our patients. This Trust is clinician-led, and provides the highest possible level of clinical expertise throughout its services.

We have set ourselves the mission to improve the quality of life of all we serve, and have embarked on an ambitious Quality Improvement Programme to transform the culture of the Trust to one of continuous improvement, delivered through participation of all staff and with service users, carers and families at the heart of our efforts to improve.

Originally formed in 2000, we are recognised as a centre of excellence for innovation and improvement. Our extensive work in research and education has led to a number of pioneering health solutions, giving us a strong academic reputation.

Though first established as a mental health trust covering east London, ELFT has been broadening its remit for some time. We provide services to a total population of over 1.2 million across east London, Bedfordshire and Luton. We operate from over 100 community and inpatient sites, employ almost 5,000 permanent staff and have a projected annual income of over £300m. As a Trust we celebrate diversity and have achieved excellence in a challenging context, working with some of the most diverse populations in the country.
