Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust was formed on April 1st 2002 in order to embed the good relations and practice that developed locally over recent years, between the NHS and local government.

The Trust will provide a formal structure, enabling us to shape our services around the needs of our users and carers.

Our services include adult mental health, mental health care of older people, substance misuse services and care for people with learning disabilities and we aim to deliver substantial benefits to users and carers, allowing the improvement and modernisation of services quickly. The improvements will include:

* Full integration of services, with access to all mental health services through a single route.
* A consistent approach to quality improvement, bringing together health and social care, to work more effectively.
* A fuller sharing of skills and expertise between the NHS and local government.
* A single complaints procedure

The needs of our service users span health and social care and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust provides the best possible structure to meet these needs.
